Maker Faire 2010 - madness, menagerie and mayhem...random!

We went to the Maker Faire over the weekend, at the San Mateo Expo Center. It is a very interesting and random event. Everything that you can possibly think of, create or imagine to build is displayed there by "do it yourself-ers (DIY)" There are crafts, art, sculpture, machines, computer technology, exhibits, things made from every possible medium and more! Also fascinating are the people! It's a great place to people-watch and to see every kind of costume and dress, people of every age and style...they are creative, expressive, some are scary and others just plain odd. it's cool! Here's a couple of pics to show ya'!

Gaping

GAPING
Sometimes we seem to think that there is so much to achieve,
something in each one of us that gives, just to receive.
All around us things that shine and sparkle in our grasp,
allow for little evils to grow bigger than we ask.
These things require time and giving up some of our glee,
and ultimately cause the chains to bind, not set us free.
God asks that we hold loosely to the things not from above,
and to let Him fill the hole that gapes within, with His strong love.
Comfort in abundance, peace and joy that you can feel,
and life-eternal, yet to gain, would instantly be real.
Look to the Lord for wisdom in this age where world success
screams lonely, pride and greed, which is the farthest from God’s rest.

Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Cheese makes my world go 'round

I don't know about you, but I LOVE cheese. I like to open the fridge and choose a flavor or kind (we usually have at least 3) and take a slice of heaven! Ok, maybe my love of cheese is a little over the top, but c'mon people...they had to have had cheese since the beginning of time...and it just gets better with age! Cheese accentuates almost every meal (no, not every single one). If I lived on a cheese farm...I'd probably weigh 1,000 pounds by now...so moderation is key. Love it!

Ummm...the cheese....

I have this cleaving desire for cheese,
it's not bound by flavors or potencies.
Cheese holds an atmosphere above other food
with various flavors and brands for your mood.
Sometimes a mild, smooth and mellow brie,
to eat on a weekend to make your mouth free.
A muenster or mozzarella, to soothe you at night
with a warm, sliced baguette, cut thin and just right.
My dreams of cheese put my mind at rest
knowing there are more cheeses yet to taste test!
If stuck on an island, I'd have to have cheese,
or my taste buds would suffer some awful disease. -Hee!
I'm just a cheese lover who put it in words,
I'll enjoy any form, sliced, spread, cubes, or in curds!
Just give me a creamy, dreamy bite of the stuff,
but wait...just one bite is not ever enough.

`

So...I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, not all of it good or bad...just thinking. Ever have days, weeks like that? Well, mine are turning into months...sometimes I'm afraid but then I have to stop myself and remember a Bible verse: "Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because GOD, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you." Deuteronomy 31:6, The Message

Fear Not

Fear is nothing but fear itself.
It steals from the heart's sense of joy and of wealth.
Fear takes away from the freedom we gain
when we realize that fear is a lie and a game.
God removes fear, and where the noise was heard,
will be filled with a peace and a grace in one word -
Jesus – His name conquers fear with His power.
His name gives us courage when most of us cower.
Victory, in Him, is the key and the calm
He holds us close, in His tender palm.
His strength is made perfect in each of our weakness
and allows for His spirit to shine and give meekness.
If fear holds us back, open up all to Him.
He’ll come, never leave you and stay close within.

Tranquility

“Do not be afraid”, it is written in The Book,
just keep going, go ahead,
eyes open, take a look.
Go see the world God made, this fascination is inside,
it lets us go and see and dream,
on silver clouds to glide.
When living for the Lord He gives His peace to calm the storm,
and beauty to our souls,
which carry grace within our form.
Fear is such a lie inside our heads, which blocks the sight,
and makes the battle deep inside
our minds where we will fight.
But God can take our fears and give His mercy with His rest,
and fill our peace to overflowing,
more than we could have guessed.
Fear can paralyze our growth, the vision will be blurred,
if deception is retained
we will deny it has occurred.
The little things we gave thought to, and fear’s the possibility,
give us the option for God’s love,
His might and His tranquility.

Romans 8:14-15

Poems, thoughts, random drops, just little ideas 'til the right word pops!
Paper "drawings" of letters unite, as I sit, these random thoughts to write.
People encourage me to write and create, yet this first blog now seems a little late.
If you creatively write, you know it is tough to put things out there, it's not enough...
especially if there's not one audience for your words, but psshhhaaa, that idea's "for the birds."
So let's start here.....
They called me "Dr. Seussette" in college, because the rhymes seemed "lack of knowledge."
Rhymes- they flow from inside my brain, yet that's not where I'll let them remain.
Read if you like...a few random drops...
